The European Union and Armenia are in the process of negotiating a new Association Agreement replacing the current Partnership and Cooperation Agreement. In July 2010 the European Commission launched negotiations with Armenia on the non-trade parts of the Association Agreement. In February 2012, the first round of negotiations took place on a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), underpinned by regulatory approximation leading to convergence with EU laws and standards. In order to assess the economic, social and environmental impacts of this DCFTA, a consortium of Ecorys and CASE was asked to carry out a Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment. This study will be implemented over the course of 2012-2013 and completed in the summer of 2013.
